This, That, and Goal Updates

Whoa! Can you believe it's already May? It feels like yesterday was March but now it's May and I have to check in on my goals... ugh :-(
I guess that's a pretty good indication on how I did... not so great. The only goal I set for myself in April was to eat clean which is really hard when I had Emmett's birthday, family in town, and our anniversary plus it felt like there was an event every weekend. I'm usually pretty good on the weekdays about fixing clean, healthy breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. But 2 o'clock hits and I want a snack not to mention that after supper Emmett wants us to have dessert together and I can't disappoint him. I allow myself a cheat meal but lately it's turned into a cheat weekend. Oh well, I'm not going to harp on it any longer. What's done is done and all I can do now is try and do better.

May Goals

Goal 1: Workout at least 3 times a week for 35 to 45 minutes. We're already a week into the month and I've worked out twice, so I better get on the ball.

Goal 2: Date nights with Pierce. Our anniversary was last month but things haven't been working out for us to spend any time with each without the kids so I'm shooting for two dates. Fingers crossed. Being parents is hard especially when you're always getting talked over by children. I feel like communication and one on one time is crucial in maintaining a healthy, happy relationship.

I'm going to keep May short, sweet, and attainable. We're going on vacation to Tybee this Wednesday so I've two days to tone up... hahahaha! I kid... I'm going to make the best of what I'm working with and enjoy myself. Maybe I'll be inspired to go for a run on the beach... probably chasing after a child.

This weekend was fun so I wanted to share a few pictures.
Saturday started with the obligatory t-ball game. I won't bore you with pictures. You've seen one t-ball game, you've seen them all.
That evening we went to a Kentucky Derby party. I love dressing up, so this was right up my alley.

I've always wanted a reason to wear a fascinator and I finally got to do so!
dress is Taylor (last season) // fascinator (similar

Pierce has been hounding me to take Oliver for his first haircut. I love his long locks but even I must admit they were getting a little long. He was recently called "she" and with his hair wet it came down to his upper back. Rather than have him cry and fight a stranger I took up the scissors and got to it on Sunday morning. Please excuse my attire. I made up my mind and did it with little regard for my appearance and I also forgot to take a before shot of Ollie.

He sat really well for me. He would have had a fit if a stranger were trying to touch him.

The after... including his little pony tail.

Not a baby anymore 😢 Makes me a little sad.

Later that day we did a little shopping and then headed to Riverfront Park for a picnic. We're always searching for new local places to take the boys, and this one did not disappoint. The park is scenically located along the Cooper River on the old Naval Base. It has lots of cool sculptures, a spray feature, a Naval memorial, an performance pavilion, and, of course, a playground. I bet they host some awesome performances. I'm going to keep an eye out for events at the park. We'll definitely be back!

That was about it. Hope ya'll had a great weekend as well!

April Monthly Resolutions

Whoa! March flew by in a flash and I can't believe it's already April. It's been a busy month and I'm afraid that I don't see us slowing down any for April. We've got Emmett's birthday, Easter, and our anniversary. So basically our weekends are already booked and the month hasn't even started.
Anyways... I guess I'll get to it. Did I achieve my March goals?

Goal 1: No soda
Going great so far. I only had one incident where I cheated but I didn't have much of a choice. I took Emmett to see Beauty and the Beast and if I go to the movies, I have to have popcorn. And I can't have popcorn without anything to drink and the movie options are soda, so I did partake. Other than that, I've stuck to it and I'm keeping it up through Lent. Promise.

Goal 2: Get in the gym for 35 to 45 minutes at least 3 times per week.
I've done okay. I didn't make it to the gym 3x per week but I did work out most weeks at least three times. Some at the gym or at home or around the neighborhood.

Goal 3: Get my guest room completed.
It's still a work in progress (insert sad face). I've got the layout I want and picked the paint but I haven't gotten it painted yet. We've got family coming in town and I didn't want it to be a disaster for them so I'm holding off until next month.

April Goals

The Goal:
This month I only have one goal. One big, huge, important goal- Eating Clean for 40 days. I've got to jump start my body for the summer and this is the way I do it. I prefer to start on a Monday, so tomorrow kicks everything off. I'll be following the Clean Simple Eats program I discussed in this post. I'll also be working out at least four times a week. I really like Body Bikini Guide, so I'm going to follow the principles on which this method is based. I'll be doing two LISS workouts and two resistance workouts a week starting off and hopefully add HIIT to the regimen in a few weeks.
I'm going to the beach with my family the second week of May and this should end just before I head there. Hopefully I'll have my body much closer to beach ready.

We had a beautiful weekend here with perfect weather. I'm so happy that spring has finally sprung. Here are a couple a photos from the weekend I wanted to share.

Our neighbors threw there annual Easter egg hunt. Waiting for the hunt to start.

After the hunt. Lots of sugar was consumed today.

March Monthly Resolutions

It’s that time again. Time to check in and be held accountable for my monthly goals. So how did I fare for February?
Goal 1: Go the the gym 3x week- again…. failed.
I made it there at least twice a week and I’m sure chasing after Emmett and Ollie have to count as a workout too, but I didn’t get in 3 solid 35 to 45 minute workouts per week. :-(

Goal 2: Get my reading nook completed… successful-ish.
The area is painted, decor is hung, pillows bought, and books sorted and ready to be shelved. The only thing missing is the bookshelf and I haven’t bought it because I know exactly which one I want but I can’t bring myself to pay full price. As soon as that sucker goes on sale I’m buying it! I want this little nook to be completed so bad because I know it will be so cute and I love that all our books and games will be in one neat, organized space. Just the thought of this makes me so happy.
My book nook... awaiting its bookcase

Goal 3: Date night… failed.
While we did get lunch out for just the two of us, we did not, however, find the time to book a babysitter and make a night of it. I had intentions to get this done but the weekends got filled up with other plans leaving little time for a night away. This goal isn’t dead… Pierce, I promise we will get a date night on the books!

March Goals:

Goal 1: No soda.
March 1st is also Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent. I don’t fast but I do like to give up something for Lent. This year I’ve decided to give up something I enjoy but isn’t good for me... soda. This is going to be difficult because I love a cherry coke. I also considered alcohol, but let’s get real… Lord knows I need a drink every once in while after work and the boys have me at my wit’s end. I knew I would be setting myself up to fail if I picked that. I figured I can handle giving up soda, plus it will be good for my body since I’m trying to get toned for summer.

Goal 2: Get in the gym for 35 to 45 minutes at least 3 times per week.
Goodness Gracious, what’s wrong with me! I have to quit making excuses and go. I’m going to keep this on my list, but I have a feeling this is the month I accomplish my goal.

Goal 3: Get my guest room completed.
I’ve figured out what I want it to look like but now I need to put in the work to get it done which includes painting the room. I’m not sure what color I want but it definitely needs a fresh coat of paint. The previous owners must not have known how to hang pictures because for every spot where a picture hung there are at least 3 to 4 nail holes in the wall. There so many nail holes in this room it’s ridiculous! This room needs some love and I'm ready to make it a comfortable, relaxing space for our guests.

Goal 4: Date night with the hubs.
Repeat: I will find the time and make this happen!

These are my monthly goals. I like putting them on paper because it helps hold me accountable to keep progressing in my life on multiple levels. What are your goals for this month?

...................................................................................................................................................................

On another note, I was gone for a little longer than normal because my little cuddle bug, Ollie, has been sick, and when he doesn't sleep, I don't sleep. So I've had no energy at night to post. On Saturday at 2:30am I had to take him to the emergency room because he was having a very difficult time breathing and it was so scary. Turns out he has pneumonia. Thankfully he is on the mend and seems to be feeling and breathing much better. Say a little pray that he continues to heal. It breaks my heart to see my children in pain.

Here's to hoping March has wonderful things in store for you all!
